Tout bois

For the first time since they opened, the exhibition galleries of the Contemporary Ceramics Centre of La Borne will be completely devoted to wood firing and specifically firings that took place during the ‘Grands Feux’ (Great Fires) event 2017. For this event, La Borne played host to a group of six Russian ceramists in residence: Dimitri Ilinskyi, Tatiana Suizeva, Sergei Sorinskyi, Alexandra Stepanova, Ivan Frolov and Sergei Sukharev. This exhibition will pay homage to their work.

As well as this, the ceramists of the Ceramics Association of La Borne will be presenting their work fired in the kilns of La Borne. There is much wood-firing in La Borne and the village is the place in European ceramics production with the highest number of wood-fired kilns.

The inauguration of this exhibition will mark the start of the3rd European Conference of Wood-Firing, taking place at La Borne between 25 August and 1 September 2018.
