Prolongement

From the very start of making my ceramic creations, it was my desire to create links with metal, as I found both of these materials conflicting yet complementary, one of them expanding and the other contracting. 2 contrasting ways of working with them, one gently and flexibly, the other with force and rigidity. When I work in one medium; I miss the other one; it has always been this way, I cannot separate them.

I start out with sketches full of hope and wishes, with a pretext of making them interact with each other, responding to and echoing each other. I forge a link, something continuous between the shapes of ceramic pieces or lines traced on the earth and ones made of steel, a reflection, a correspondence, discovering continuations.

Then the moment comes to take up the challenge, try your luck, experiment, play, construct, seek, discover, get carried away, let your thoughts wander, put your heart and soul into it, lose yourself in it, become disenchanted, crash and burn, change direction, start over again, persist….never give up.

Nothing is ever set for good, there are so many different ways to go, other roads to take. The adventure carries on forever, constantly…
