Un petit coin de paradis

Bernadette, Zezette, and Josette gazing at a shop window

Hubert and Roberte waiting for a bus…as well as Christine and Edmond sitting side by side, quietly reading their books on their brand new sofa….

And then there’s Véronique who’s not doing much of anything, dejectedly carrying her little handbag…

I take all these characters by surprise going about their personal lives, and I fix them as they are going about their daily routine, having put aside the appearances imposed on us by society. Once they relax I snap them humorously, exaggeratedly, but above all simply, tenderly and lovingly.

Everyone I encounter can become my model, me being first in line. Maybe that’s why they remind us of someone we know well, a neighbour or a friend…

Sculptures in the style of ‘Bretecher’ or ‘Carmen Cru’ or the triplets of Belleville… All these comic strip characters that have inspired me and made me the person I am today, someone who looks at human nature critically and without compromise.
