Javier Carro Temboury et Arlette Legros (ACLB)
Vases communicants (San Claudio/La Borne)
Restitution dispositif « Résidences La Borne »
La Borne welcomed Javier Carro Temboury in 2024 and 2025 to experiment together with Arlette Legros.
The hundred-year-old San Claudio factory in northern Spain closed its doors in 2009, following a decision to relocate and optimise production costs. The huge factory was abandoned overnight. Fifteen years later, the remains of the kiln and semi-fired china are still piled up, covered by brambles. The last time Javier Carro Temboury visited, he discovered the warehouse filled with moulds in the basement. From this catalogue of moulds, he selected the one for making wine pitchers, which he brought to La Borne to show Arlette Legros when they met. This pitcher was to become the focal point and launch pad for a shared endeavour during the residency.
During their time spent working together, they revived this mould in order to explore its sculptural possibilities. Each cast is distorted, cracked and smoky, and yet it is still possible to recognise it. A bar scene – in which three figures are enjoying a drink – is depicted from one pitcher to another, in a series of modular sculptures. These groups of communicating vessels can be viewed as interdependent systems – metaphors ranging from blood vessels to the challenges of life in society can be projected onto them.

Que sonne la terre
Restitution dispositif « Résidences La Borne »
La Borne welcomed Romain Kloeckner in 2024 and 2025, to experiment together with Nicole Crestou and Christophe Léger. The exhibition will bring to life the sound of the earth, clay, the sound of materials vibrating. Different installations invite you to beat, rub, move, clash, caress, scratch and above all listen to the different objects and sound sculptures.
Following these months of artistic residencies, you are invited to see, touch and hear the different experiments with the sound of ceramics.
These sounds and vibrations, whether they may be melodious, irritating, mystical, healing or strange, inhabit the clay forms that are hardened by fire. It is up to you to release them.

Objets bouleversants
Association of ideas
The collective theme encourages the ceramists of the ACLB to innovate by translating a ‘collage’ of ideas or designs into volumes using their customary techniques, in order to surprise and move with their moving, poetic, playful or provocative objects.
Association of authors
This year, the ceramists of La Borne are once again inviting their artist friends to create works together. Their objects and sculptures, made with two, four or six hands, will be able to combine different materials in order to revitalise local creations.
The variety and originality of the offerings will prompt visitors to step outside of their normal perceptions of reality.
